We asked one of our rockstar employees a few questions about her life, her job and her heroines.
The month of March is upon us, and as we enjoy the warmer weather and the promise of spring, we also celebrate Women’s History Month. Since March of 1987, when Congress designated March as “Womens History Month,” our country has recognized historical and contemporary women who have contributed to the welfare of our nation and our world. Farotech is no different, and would like to take time this month to celebrate one of its most dedicated employees, Christie Gimbal.
We chatted with Christie about her 8 years with us, her journey to working in marketing, and the important women that she celebrates this month.

A Chat with Farotech Employee Christie Gimbal
What is your position at Farotech?
I am a project manager. My two clients at the moment are Penn Dental Family Practice and Penn Dental Medicine.
Have you always been a project manager?
I started working for Farotech in 2008 as Chris Carr’s assistant. I was a part-time assistant and became a web development and design manager, and then a marketing project manager.
What did you do before Farotech?
I changed my major several times in college at Penn State, but finally decided I wanted to do business. Then Farotech was my first real post-college job.
Loyalty to one business or company is becoming less common, as employees move around from job to job. Why have you stayed with Farotech?
So much has changed since I came to Farotech. It was pretty much just Chris Carr and me when I started. It has been really cool to be with a company from the ground up and to see the company grow and go through all these changes. Farotech is like an extension of my family. And anyway, that is the kind of person I am. I stick with things.
Web development and business marketing have been considered male dominated fields in the past, although that is changing as more women are going into web and business related fields, and there are more women in marketing. Why is it important for women to be involved in these fields?
I think women bring a different type of personality and skill set. It isn’t a blanket statement, but many times I feel that women can just keep things organized and multitask because of how our brains work differently. So I think it was really good that Chris and I were stark opposites when we started working together because we fill in the gaps for each other.
How can the marketing and web design industries be more inclusive to women?
I think it could be interesting to have more women on the development side. Make it more available and appealing to women and offer more training. Companies should market to women by saying, “Hey, let’s fill that gap and have women try this too,” because women can bring a much different perspective.
It is Women’s History Month 2016, when we celebrate inspirational women of our past and present who have contributed to the freedoms we have today. What women have inspired you in your life?
Definitely my mom. My mom isn’t a career woman, but she is a very driven and compassionate woman and passionate about her family and anything she does. She has a positive outlook. And I’m sure that her personality has overflowed into my career life: to be passionate, have a good attitude, and be dedicated.
